How to clean your diamonds

Clean the ring frequently. Luckily, cleaning your ring is not an extensive process and you can do it at your home. All you need is a cup of warm water with a few drops of soap or mild dishwashing detergent. Let your diamond stay there for some time, then gently scrub the stone with a soft-bristled brush, maybe, a baby toothbrush. Rinse and pat dry using a soft cotton cloth. Avoid using paper towels for drying the stone, as they can scratch the metal. Also, stay away from drains as you’re cleaning the diamond. Don’t use any harsh chemicals or moisturizers to clean your ring.

Diamonds are tough but not invincible

Worried about scratches? Store your ring in its own fabric-lined box. When you take it off make sure you store it in a secure place, maybe inside a ring-dish assigned solely for this purpose. Placing a ring-dish at your place is pretty rewarding so that when you take it off, you know precisely where to search.

Get professional help

Taking your diamond jewellery to a professional at least once a year will warn you for things like worn mountings or loose prongs. If asked, they will also clean the ring for you.

It is better to avoid using ultrasonic jewellery cleaners at home. The device works by transmitting vibrations through the cleaning solvent and all these movements can make the diamond to go wobbly or the ring can fall out the machine, damaging it forever. However, in a more professional setting, they can check and confirm if the stone is still intact. While at home, you will never know if one of your stones got loose.
